Accounting firm Carrow Doyle combines with Citrin Cooperman

Monday, November 16, 2009
Philadelphia Business Journal - by Jeff Blumenthal Staff Writer

New York-based accounting firm Citrin Cooperman & Co. said Monday that Carrow Doyle & Associates has joined the firm’s Philadelphia office.

The 13-person Carrow Doyle is the third Philadelphia-area accounting firm to join Citrin in the past two years. Matarazzo Goldis & Co. came on board in November 2008 and Yampolsky Mandeloff Silver Ryan joined in November 2007.

Joining Citrin as partners are Mark S. Carrow, managing partner at Carrow Doyle, who will become the managing partner in Philadelphia; William C. Briggs, who will be in charge of the tax practice; and James A.J. Revels, a partner specializing in high net worth individuals and family offices. Additionally, 10 professionals and support staff from Carrow will be joining. The Carrow Doyle group has relocated from Berwyn to Citrin’s Philadelphia offices at 1800 Market.

Citrin Cooperman managing partner Joel Cooperman said the firm now has 50 people and a projected $10 million in annual revenue at its Philadelphia office. Citrin now has a total of 84 partners, and $87 million in estimated annual revenue. It also has offices in New York City; White Plains, N.Y.; Springfield, N.J.; and Southport, Conn.

Carrow Doyle had annual revenue in excess of $3 million. Carrow said the firm’s practice leans 75 percent toward tax matters, which fits with the existing Citrin Cooperman office that focuses more on audit work. The firm represents broker/dealers, private equity and hedge funds, real estate development companies, entrepreneurs, middle-market businesses, and the bioscience industry in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland.

Terms of the business combination were not disclosed. Christie Hoyt and Neal Friedant of Partners for Corporate Recruiting were instrumental in working with Citrin on the transaction.
